Families and educators share the role of encouraging children toward faith that endures a lifetime. That is why Concordia Publishing House created the Enduring Faith Religion Curriculum for Preschool–8th grade. Now, we are excited to share with you that Early Childhood has been added to the Enduring Faith family! Continue reading to learn more about this curriculum and how it nurtures the little ones in your life on their faith journey.
Teacher Guide
To get started, grab your Early Childhood Enduring Faith Teacher Guide. Inside the box you will find your Teacher Guide pages, a sample of Family Materials, and an easel. The Teacher Guide is filled with eight units covering seventy lessons that align with the rest of the Enduring Faith Religion Curriculum’s scope and sequence. Use one or two lessons a week depending on the size of your group or your center’s calendar. Either way, you have the flexibility to adapt the curriculum to your context.
Because the Early Childhood curriculum aligns with Preschool and Kindergarten, children will experience a spiral learning model that will cultivate biblical literacy and foundational faith formation. The easel is filled with beautiful and age-friendly artwork so hearing the Bible narratives is fun and engaging. While showing the students the artwork for the lesson, you can follow the prompts on the other side. Each lesson includes suggestions for introducing the lesson, action poems, piggyback songs, and Bible verses you can learn together.
The Teacher Guide consists of three hundred three-hole-punched 8.5" × 11" pages that can easily fit in a binder for simple lesson planning. Each of the seventy lessons contains Bible background and a grade-level truth for children to walk away with. There is also an abundance of information for incorporating movement and learning activities, music suggestions, and reproducible storytelling figures that they can color themselves.
Family Materials
In place of a student book, your Early Childhood Teacher Guide comes with a sample of Family Materials. The Family Materials cover all seventy lessons and partner with the curriculum. Simply hand out the single, two-sided page to each of your families and they will be equipped to continue the faith formation at home. Each Family Page has Bible Story Insights, so the parents/guardians know what their child learned that day. There are also parent reflections and a “This Week at Home” section where they can look out for opportunities to provide continuity for their child from what they learn with you that day. Order a set of Family Materials for each of your families so you and parents/guardians are working together as the Holy Spirit forms a faith that endures in these little ones.
