VBS 2025 Mission Project | Mission: Adventure Outreach

Invite your VBS participants to be part of an epic initiative with Mission: Adventure Outreach! In partnership with Concordia Gospel Outreach (CGO), set up a goal to help distribute Christian books across the globe. This mission is all about reaching out to children and families who haven’t yet discovered the Gospel or lack access to books about Jesus.

Mission: Adventure Outreach

At Epic Australian Adventure: An Unforgettable Journey with Jesus, children will learn what Jesus tell us about Himself: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Unfortunately, there are children around the world who haven’t had the opportunity to hear this Good News. Your VBS event is a great time to share with your students the importance of sharing Jesus’ message throughout the world!

CGO is rooted in this mission, striving to put the Gospel into empty hands. This initiative has taken many forms, including the new Arch® Book food bank program, which now sends thousands of Christian books to food banks and resource programs in the US each week, or the servant event at the 2022 LCMS Youth Gathering , in which volunteers assembled boxes filled with evangelism resources for churches to share with their communities. And it doesn’t need to stop there—you can bring your VBS into this outreach opportunity as well.

Your Epic Australian Adventure Starter Kit comes with a Mission Project flyer from CGO, which you can use to set an ambitious goal and track your progress. On the flip side, you’ll find a summary of the Mission Project along with easy instructions on how to send your donations to CGO.

Need extra copies? You can access the flyer/brochure in the Digital Content Center or, if you haven’t purchased an Epic Australian Adventure Starter Kit, you can access these printables on the CGO website.

Mission Project Video

A great way to get your VBS students excited about Mission: Adventure Outreach is to show them the Mission Project Video. In the video, students will hear how kids just like them are being impacted by these Christian resources—whether here in the United States or in remote places across the world!

The video can be found in a few places: on the CGO mission website, on the CPH VBS and Children’s Ministry YouTube Channel, or in the Digital Content Center of your Epic Australian Adventure Starter Kit.

Mission Project Fundraising Tips

If you’re not sure where to start, CGO suggests five tips for fundraising:

  1. Set an ambitious, yet realistic goal.
  2. Raise awareness.
  3. Send children home with information.
  4. Bring in a personal touch.
  5. Celebrate!

You can also check out these creative fundraiser ideas and see what makes sense to you and your community.

The deadline of VBS week can be helpful in creating a sense of urgency for meeting your goals, but the mission doesn’t stop after the summer. CGO needs help year-round to continue our mission to share the Gospel. Keep us in mind as you take offerings at Sunday School or other events throughout the year too!
