Parents, Nourish Your Marriage

Odds are, your kids capture much of your time—driving them places, teaching them to do chores, and making sure they eat healthy food. While it is important to feed your kids, both body and soul, don't forget to nurture your marriage and your partnership as parents. This type of nutrition is found in God's Word and promises. God has a plan as He leads you to build, love, protect, and teach each other—and the children He has given you.

Take time for your marriage. Set aside time for each other (date night!), and discover God's plan for marriage in books such as Your Marriage by God's Design. Written by husband-and-wife team Scott and Julie Stiegemeyer, this book offers practical insights in sections such as Relationship Pitfalls and Keys to a Successful Marriage as well as prayers from husband and wife perspectives.

Speaking of prayer, if there is any role where "pray without ceasing" applies to the nth degree—it's parenting! It's a daunting task, one that we will never succeed perfectly at. Written by wife and mother Lisa M. Clark, Blessings and Prayers for Parents reminds us that God, the perfect Parent, pursues us with His unconditional love.

May this prayer encourage you today:

"Almighty God, heavenly Father, You have blessed us with the joy and care of children. Give us calm strength and patient wisdom that, as they grow in years, we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen."
