Sneak Peek at the 2018 Worship Planning Book

The 2018 Worship Planning Book will be released at the beginning of July 2017, and we want to give you a taste by providing you with a free excerpt

What's included in the Worship Planning Book

The Worship Planning Book is a year-long planner for every Sunday of the Church Year. Everyone in your church office can benefit from the following features in the book:

  • Hymns Suggestions: The book lists the Hymn of the Day, which corresponds with the season of the Church Year, provides hymns that go well with the readings, and gives suggestions for additional appropriate hymns, making it easy for you to find music each service.
  • Additional Music IdeasThe additional suggested music for choirs or handbells is based on the Church Year, and new music selections are bolded for your convenience.

  • Worship Planning WorksheetThe worksheet helps church staff arrange their chosen pieces according to the Divine Service Setting. There are check boxes for places in the service where a decision must be made, and areas to fill in the selected hymns.

How can the Worship Planning Book work with other worship planning tools?

If you're reading this and thinking, "This sounds a lot like some of the worship planning tools I already use. What makes the Worship Planning Book so special?" You raise a valid question!

The Worship Planning Book was designed to complement our other service planning resources, such as Creative Worship and Lutheran Service BuilderFor example, you will find that the additional music suggestions in the Worship Planning Book and Creative Worship provide added depth and dimension to your service planning and bulletin preparations with Lutheran Service Builder.

Since each of these three resources align around the readings and theme for every Sunday, you'll be able to easily incorporate different elements into your service plan to find the best mix for your church. Think of the Worship Planning Book as another tool to add to your service planning toolbox which helps your staff work as efficiently as possible. Need more convincing? Check out the excerpt!

Who benefits from the Worship Planning Book?

The Worship Planning Book can benefit a multitude of positions in your church. The worksheet can be used to help pastors organize the service and place the hymns. Church secretaries can also use the book to find the appropriate information for every service, helping with bulletin preparation. The Worship Planning Book is also a great tool for music directors to narrow down their list of special music selections for each service.

By using the book, everyone will be on the same page, and your church staff will have the necessary information to plan even the most minute details in each service. Your pastor, secretary, and music director can be in complete alignment, so that every Sunday can be a cohesive service with each element connected to the reading and season.

I hope this post provides with you with some insight into ways that the Worship Planning Book can benefit your church. To preview some of the materials in the 2018 Worship Planning Book, click on the button below to download a free excerpt.
