Deb Burma's Double Chocolate Oatmeal Revel Bars

Deb Burma’s new Bible study, Living a Chocolate Life, has us hungry for all things chocolate! Deb gave us a peek into her recipe box and is sharing two favorites with us.

DOUBLE-CHOCOLATE OATMEAL REVEL BARS

Irresistible! This Burma family favorite combines the taste and texture of a chocolate-oatmeal cookie bar with that of a rich and smooth fudgy filling. Crumbly, chewy, chocolaty.  Serve them warm from the oven, and they’ll disappear before they’ve had a chance to cool!

What You’ll Need:

3 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
2 (1.55 oz. ea.) milk chocolate candy bars, grated
1 c. butter
2 cu. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Combine oats, flour, soda, salt, and grated candy bars. Beat butter; add sugar and beat until fluffy; add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Stir dry ingredients gradually into beaten mixture until well combined.

Fudgy filling:

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1½ c. semisweet chocolate morsels
2 tbsp. butter
¼ tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla

Heat together milk, semisweet morsels, butter, and salt over low heat. Stir until smooth; remove from heat immediately. Stir in vanilla.

Pat two-thirds of oat mixture in bottom of an ungreased 10 x 15 inch bar pan. Spread melted chocolate-fudge filling over dough. Dot with remaining oat mixture. Bake at 350° degrees for
25-30 minutes.
