Introduction
Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem was also a courageous ride to the cross. Christ rode into the city not as a king coming in conquest but as the Lord’s Anointed, who would be crucified for our sins. He is indeed the Blessed One whose victory on the cross conquered sin, death, and the devil.
Devotional Reading
We are often unable to recognize and rejoice in what is good for us. Whether about food or drink, how we behave toward one another, or what we watch on television, more often than not we look at the good, right, and healthy choice and say, “Nah, let’s go the other way this time.”
In Jesus’ day people were no different. The Messiah was in their midst. The Holy One of Israel was right there. He was the very reason they existed as a people, yet they turned their back on Him. But it was not only them; we also have all rejected Christ in word and deed.
But Christ is the cornerstone, rejected by His own people. They are trapped in sin and revel in evil, but still He comes to seek and to save.
Why would He do such a thing? Why would He come to save an ungrateful people? He does so because He loves us. God has made us. He has made this day and all of the blessings that flow from us. Rejoice and be glad that His love for you is greater than any sin or misdeed you may ever commit!
